The United Nations Information Centre is proud to be associated with The South African Model UN.
Ours is an association dating back to the inception of the programme that has, over the years, produced impressive alumni of Model United Nations scholars whose contribution to fostering the ideals of the United Nations continues.
As a "graduate" of the Model UN programme myself, I am particularly pleased to see the programme grow from strength to strength as students from throughout South Africa and abroad are afforded the opportunity to be role-players in the global arena and provide solutions and guidelines to issues facing the world today.
Education Africa and the SAMUN Alumni are to be congratulated on a job well done, as one bears witness to the impressive calibre of future leaders with which South Africa is blessed.
The United Nations belongs to the citizens of our world and for it to fully meet its wide, meaningful and necessary mandate; it is up to all of us to work together for a better tomorrow.
The South African Model UN is a shining example of this as bridges are built, opportunities created, dialogue is fostered and tolerance is lived.
On behalf of the United Nations, I wish you well.
